Summary of the seminar "Integrated Management of Urban Flooding" in San Salvador

Under the Capacity Development in Water Engineering and Environmental Management Project (CapWEM) and the support of Global Water Partnership (GWP) and Capacity Building Network (Cap-­‐Net) was carried out between 18 and 23 February 2013 the course "Integrated Urban Flooding"  at the Universidad Centroamericana "José Simeón Cañas" in El Salvador (UCA).

The course aimed to introduce participants to the knowledge of integrated and sustainable urban water management and flood, presenting the conceptual aspects to consider in making decisions.

The topics were:

  • Urban Water
  • Flood  Management
  • urban drainage
  • Integrated Urban Flood
  • Plan of Integrated Urban Flood

The total of participants were twenty six. Among the attendees were staff of the Office of Planning of Metropolitan Area of San Salvador (OPAMSS), Salvadoran Foundation for Development and Minimum Housing (FUNDASAL) Humanitarian Information Network for Latin America and the Caribbean, Social Investment Fund for Development Local (FISDL), Ministry of Environment  and Natural Resources of El Salvador (MARN),  Salvadoran  Red  Cross,  NGO PROESA  and  some companies as DURECO of El Salvador as MEXICHEM, as well as independent consultants devoted to water engineering and environmental management.
